Introducing Strict Screening and 80-Paper Reports

When researchers conduct a systematic review, two must-haves are comprehensiveness and transparency. With this in mind, we're rolling out two updates today to Systematic Reviews in Elicit:
Strict screening criteria - Mark critical criteria as 'strict' to automatically exclude papers that fail to meet them.
80-paper Systematic Review reports - The report at the end of your Systematic Review can now draw from double the number of papers.
Strict screening criteria
Traditional systematic reviews have strict inclusion/exclusion criteria, where any paper has to meet all criteria to be screened in. Now, you can enable strict criteria within Elicit to achieve the same results. Any paper failing a strict criterion in your Systematic Review will be automatically screened out (though you can manually override the exclusion). If it’s unclear whether a paper meets a strict criterion (”Maybe” instead of “Yes” or “No”), the paper is included by default to avoid missing any important papers.
This gives you full control over your inclusion logic and makes it easier to document and defend your screening methodology, across both abstract and full-text screening.
To use strict screening criteria, click into a screening column and toggle ‘Strict criterion’ on.

Papers that fail any strict criteria will appear at the bottom of the screening results page with a label showing they were excluded based on strict criteria.

80 papers in Systematic Review reports
After you search, screen, and extract data from the papers in your Systematic Review, you can generate a report to give you an overview of the research. Now, Elicit can use 80 papers (double the previous limit of 40) to generate that report, giving you a more comprehensive look into your research. You don’t need to do anything extra to use this feature: if you create a new Systematic Review, it will automatically use up to 80 papers. If you re-generate the report for a previous Systematic Review, it will also use up to 80 papers.
