Introducing Routines: Research that keeps working
Ask the Elicit Research Agent to monitor evidence, update your work, and report back on a recurring basis

Research does not stop when you finish a report. New evidence appears, a landscape changes, and the summary you shared last month needs another look. Keeping work current often means repeating the same search and analysis every week.
Today, we’re introducing Routines. Tell the Elicit Research Agent what you want it to keep doing, and it can carry out that work on a daily or weekly schedule. Routines build on the idea behind Alerts: instead of only telling you that new papers exist, the Agent can investigate what changed and help produce the update you need.
From new evidence to useful work
Imagine you’re maintaining an evidence summary for a fast-moving therapeutic area. You could ask:
Every Monday, find relevant new evidence on CAR-T therapies, update our summary with findings that change the current picture, and tell me what changed, with links to the sources.
The Routine can bring several steps together: find relevant evidence, assess what matters, update an artifact, and give you a summary to review. You can also use Routines to keep a competitive landscape current or prepare a recurring briefing on recent findings.
Set it up in your own words
Create a Routine from the Routines tab or ask for recurring work while you’re in a Research Agent session. Describe the task as you would to a colleague: what to watch, what to do with new information, and what you want back.
The Agent proposes instructions and a schedule. You can edit them before you activate the Routine. Once it’s running, you can inspect its work in an Agent session, follow up on the results, and choose which updates reach you by email. You can pause a Routine or run it when you need an update sooner.
Stay involved where it matters
A Routine takes on the repeated work; you decide what it should do and can review what it found. Its results live in an Agent session, where you can inspect the sources, question a finding, or ask the Agent to take the next step.
